This resonates with me. I recently visited Carrie Bradshaw's stoop, just this May. The new owner (an elderly man) said, very matter of factly, he didn't care to see any SJP/ Sex & the City fans! But, that SHE should see her fans. So he sent me & my pal around the block literally to SJP's actual townhome. We didn't see anything but the security system -- haha! The new owner also said SJP owns a shoe store a couple blocks away, but he didn't recall the name. Fun little irony, I thought.

Thea, I would so read this topic as a full book if you’d want to write it—and a publisher would give you a travel budget ;-). (Not trying to pressure you, but your first book was fantastic and I’m eagerly anticipating a second! And now that I’ve found this Substack I’m thrilled so many of my favorite writers are in one place. I’m trying not to fangirl too hard here and failing, obviously.)

I love that you’re as into this kind of touring as I am. I’m close to NYC so I’ve sought out most of my favorite locations there already and done my own tours (You’ve Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally, Will & Grace, Tootsie, Gossip Girl, Spin City, etc.). What IS it about the Friends apartment?! I’ve been three times, always taking someone new who’s a Friends fan, and it IS (always) magical.

Brandi, this comment absolutely made my day/month/year!! Thank so, so much for your kind, thoughtful words and for reading the book! I'm so delighted you enjoyed it! I would love SO much to do a full project on film locations. I just walked by the 91st street garden from "You've Got Mail" and it always feels like there's an extra layer of Nora Ephron magic hanging in the air over there. And I love how Kathleen Kelly's house is just a few blocks away! It feels like fresh bouquet of sharpened pencils season...

YES. I'm so glad you feel the same way re: the Friends apartment!! Sometimes I'll go out of my way just to walk by for a few seconds. It feels a bit like home :-)

Side note, I saw on your bio on here after I commented that you're working on a New Girl book *happy dance*
