Welcome to Ministry of Pop Culture!
Welcome to the Ministry!
The five of us, veteran writers all, started this publication in the summer of 2024 because of an absence we were feeling as readers. Where could we go to get robust, heartfelt, thoughtful writing on popular culture? Newspapers and magazines keep shrinking their cultural coverage, and we realized it was time to create our own space.
We decided to launch Ministry of Pop Culture as a place where readers could come to engage with the movies, shows, books, and music that mattered to them most. We want to provide our audience with the kind of in-depth, personal coverage of culture that they couldn’t get elsewhere. With our mix of exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes coverage, sharp analysis of work we admire (or despise!), and personal essays, we want to remind readers why we all love culture so much, and create a space to gather and share the love. When you read Ministry of Pop Culture, you will hopefully learn something you never knew before, or be reminded of a feeling you could never put the words to before, or both.
You’ll hear from us twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.
